Our story

Sherry Groom has been collecting Troll Dolls since she was 5 years old. An entrepreneur by nature, Sherry opened the Troll Hole Museum, with her husband Jay in 2013 to showcase her collection.

Together, they chose to found the museum in Stark County, Ohio. This was in no small part due to the phenomenal success and support of Arts in Stark. The privately funded Arts Council was the only one in the nation to have reached their fundraising goals 12 years in a row. They found plentiful real estate opportunities in Alliance, a city determined to see the downtown thrive. Stark County spans within a 3 hour drive-radius with over 270 million people. With Arts in Stark, the Pro-Football Hall of Fame, the Canton Visitors Bureau, and Travel-Host Magazine all supporting the Troll Hole Museum, Stark County is a fantastic place for tourism.

Jay and Sherry have become instrumental grassroots instigators. They've since helped with revitalizing downtown Alliance, even purchasing a local apartment. They chose a decapitated former Chiropractic Office as the site of the Museum in the late 2000's. It took over 3 years for Jay to renovate. The Troll Hole museum has certainly come a long way!
